A penchant for the eclectic should come as no surprise to those familiar with Lindsey McClain. From caftans to home decor, the mother of two and co-founder of La Vie Style House is “obsessed with pattern on pattern, print on print, and color on color.” The Highland Park home she shares with her husband, Matt, and their two sons—Ryder, 10, and Hudson, 9—is a blend of vintage pieces and new designers that McClain has discovered through her travels. The mix of old and new is evident in every room—from the Allan Knight “Limelight” loungers covered in a vintage Chanel tweed to the caramel leather sofa from her husband’s childhood home. “I was a part of every single purchase and fabric selection,” she says. “I have a very specific aesthetic.”

No space is off-limits for the McClains’ two sons. “The one room that is completely theirs, the playroom—with every gaming table and kid activity you can think of—is the one room they are hardly ever in,” McClain laughs. More often than not, the kids can be found swimming in the pool out back or hoverboarding around downstairs.

Building upon her initial vision for a waterfall island, McClain worked with designer Amy Berry to rework the entire kitchen.

Holiday decorating is the one way in which McClain tends to lean more minimalist. “Less is more!” she says. “I love a big Christmas tree, outside lights on the house, and amazing florals.” The family cherishes their annual Christmas Eve candlelight service followed by dinner with their extended family. Says McClain: “I think the best tradition is being home with family as much as possible and enjoying the time off together.”
